today i was spring cleaning (i know, its about 2 months late) and tossed out a whole bunch of software*, but couldn't resist giving my hardware a good screwing to take this photo for you...

Hi
What's a dongle? Oh you mean the essential authorising bit of hardware - like my Mac...
My Quadra 950, Quadra 840AV, PM8100, PM9150, PM9500, G3B&W, G4AGP, G4MDD and old G5 are mostly still cluttering up my workspace and garage (the 950 broke) - a hell of a lot bigger than that ;-)

hi ron
size aint everything... and to be fair, about 6 of those were beta testing dongles, but do not include my old dvision 2.2 and paint* and effect* dongles since they have long since been turfed out.

Mark -
They oughta be bronzed and saved for your grandkids!
I believe I have about 20 of those things here ... some actually missing their labels ... that go back to the mid-80s. In fact at one point in time, we'd customarily have 6 or 7 installed at the same time and the computers had to keep moving farther and farther from the wall as more software was installed. To fix that, we had some short ribbon cables made up that would allow the chain to hang down instead of sticking straight out.
Make what you will of that ... but I called it 'The Dongle Dangler.'

heh heh, yeah, well the most i ever had at once was 3, when paint and effect were separate products, oh well now i feel totally emasculated at the thought of your 20bit dongle. I think it would have looked particularly sexy if it was kept erect via suspension hooks in the ceiling... VERY impressive to certain clients, though on second thoughts maybe you wouldnt want such clients in your office!

Sounds like the boys are comparing high school tools again.
Where is Marisu when you need her?
The "Alpha bitch" could minimize all this dongle waving, right? ;>)

Christopher, Christopher . . .
I DO enjoy a bit of dongle waving now and again (but only when viewed from a safe distance, of course). However, as a Mom I do feel I must insert my generic warning here "Watch where you wave that thing or you'll put someone's eye out!"

OMG!! that thing is huge! LOL! psuedo dongle envy for sure! I only have 4 sticking out the back. E/P/E and TitleMotion. Had to break out the jig saw and cut a hole in the back of the console to allow those suckers to fit!
I needed a good laugh... thanks!!

[Ron Shook]"No, only taken this thread to it's hilarious non-sensical conclusion. Bravo!"
yeah,
and its probably round about now that marisu stops reading the thread, when "a bit of dongle waving" becomes boys like me spiralling uncontrollably downwards, like a moth to a flame, towards vulgarity. Oh well, the aforementioned dongle will RIP now...

[marisu fronc]"one of my favourite hobbies is watching humongous dongle waving men spiral down into vulgarity ;)"
AHA...
and i always took you for a really upstanding irish girl who had gleefully taken on middle american values... i guess NOT ;-)
no, i always knew you had a dark side, especially in the peak hour traffic with your 4x4

mark,
you forget, I'm not from the shamrocks and leprechauns part of Ireland, but rather the occupying soldiers, riots and bombs part. My tastes run more to hard men with interesting scars - add some violent physical confrontation and leather underwear and you've got my undivided attention ;)
I did have a dark side during rush hour, I admit - but now that my commute consists of a ten foot saunter down the hall I've chilled a great deal, I do love the feeling of freedom in the morning!

[David Roth Weiss]"Scary!!! As I always say, beware of Greeks who love leather."
genetics aside, luckily i consider myself to be south african, not greek, and besides, its not leather as per se that i love, its straps, whips, harnesses and lederhausen that i have a strong affinity for, which is not entirely the same thing!
