Digital broadcast conversion
by Kim Lloyd on Nov 4, 2008 at 6:08:16 pm

Hello --

I have a question regarding the digital broadcast switch over in February. We are primarily a commercial production company that shoots both film and HD.

With the switch over hovering, we want to know what the best possible format is for mastering. It's all somewhat confusing - especially with down and up conversions. We don't want to lose data, but understand most households will still have SD monitors. Will HD spots be cropped to fit or 'winged' and letter boxed? Does anyone know? Will DB still be the mastering format of choice?

We want to master to HD but again don't know if this is the best format.

Thanks!
Kim

SRW-5500. Dub to DVW-M2000. And check your audio with Dolby LM100 for -23dBfs.

Have fun spending $139,000.
