Satamax down
by Matt Kerstein (mauimatt) on May 14, 2008 at 8:07:41 pm

Well......now that Promax is gone and there is no more tech support for me. I'll need you Gary and everyone else a lot more!
Anyone know how to get a satamax back up with a volume that does not light up on the front panel? Disc Utility does not see it to run a repair disc.

[Matt Kerstein] "I'll need you Gary "

I am so sorry Matt - but I have never even seen one of the SataMax drives.

However Disk Utility does not work well with more custom case solutions, since they all have some sort of special sauce setup and config.

Try the original tools that came with the array.

They are out of business. I talked to Dana one of the guys who bought Promax from the founder before he succumbed to Cancer. He said they were trying to re-organize and open again...but it does not look good. I hope they can :(

Re: Satamax down, but we helped!
by Jon Schilling on May 19, 2008 at 10:04:13 pm

We made contact with Matt directly & helped him for a couple of reasons.

#1. Promax was using our 4 port eSATA card (FASTA-4e) bundled in every MacPro turnkey that had a SATAMAX product as the external storage.

#2. Jason Deubler, formerly of Gmax & Promax is now working with us & has an intimate knowledge of the SATAMAX product.

The official Promax is gone thread on the Cow for those that missed it:

Give kudo's to Jon and the other people at Caldigit that stand up and assist when there are issues.

As you see, it is a really small place we live.

Too many people forget that we help each other, because it is the right thing to do, not because we have to.
