Hello all. I apologize in advance if this has been discussed I did a search and could not find anything.
I'm well versed in calibrating NTSC monitors to SMPTE bars but do not know how to calibrate 75% PAL bars on an HD monitor (coming from a Sony 750P). I'll have to do it both to HD LCD and HD CRT field monitors. I'm especially confused by how to set the contrast without a 100% white square. I would be grateful if anyone could walk me through the procedures or provide pointers.

Sorry forgot to add: we'll be running and gunning in the field and may not always have a vetroscope hooked up so I'm wondering the method of calibrating if we are without a vetroscope at the time. Of course a vetroscope would be the best way to do it.

so, you have full field PAL color bars, and no scope, and you want to know how to be accurate in the field. You already answered the question in your second post (the scope). No scope, no accuracy. No SMPTE bars with split field and reverse colors on it? - GOOD LUCK.
