Sony has a 2K imager...even if they had a 2K camera, I fail to see how that would "kill" a 4K camera...particularly one not even "born" yet...
What IS it with the language of comparisons these days? For the last several years I've been hearing that
film is "dead"...
tape is "dead"...
the Varicam progressive picture completely "beats" the F900 for "filmic aesthetic"...
the F900 "clobbers" the Varicam for frame resoluton and data rate...
HVX200 is "real" HD while the Z1 is apparently "imaginary" HD even though the Sony's sensor has double the native resolution...
HDV has been "murdered" and the body has apparently been buried already by AVCHD, even though nobody can figure out how to edit it yet...
RED supporters seem to have no limits to the competitive "assasinations" that will be carried out by this revolutionary grim reaper of motion imaging...
In post production, you can add whatever subjective supremacy statement you wish referencing whatever you use as obviously superior to whatever you don't...
It's a big world with a lot of workflows and end uses out there. It's pretty gray out there people. HD isn't just for the budgetarily anointed...everybody needs to make the switch, and if HDcam was the only replacement for DV, events and news would be SD for another decade.
As I noted in another thread below, users come to the Cow for information. I just don't feel that some of these intensely subjective discriminatory statements are particularly helpful.

Great post, this should kill all those over the top statements. (Please read as a joke) But good post, this is why I find it hard to read or listen to the news, sports commentaries and most opinion site. Things have gotten crazy, present your side and let everyone will figure out where to fit into their lives.

Humor is tough on a forum post...that is true.
I think many of us have overdosed on hyperbole in the last year or so...I maybe jumped the gun a bit. There is another thread below that frustrated me and I think I just read this one from the same perspective.

When Chris said "Red is Dead" - it reminded me of the guys that think that Sony actually cares about them, that their Sony Cinealta investment is "safe", because no one can beat the "king".
When Red (or whatever 4K camera) replaces 35mm film **, someone will release an 8K camera (better than 35mm film), and the RED (or whatever) will be useless.
With that said - some kid with his CEL phone camera will produce an award winning show, while all of us "hi end HD" people try to kill each other, with our new toy. And my ** above acknowleges the reader who is boiling now, screaming "nothing will EVER replace 35mm film !".
