Interesting lower cost 4gb fibre option, w/ 1 controller (not as robust against failing as a dual controller). Wondered if anyone has tried this array.

I had one of their previous generation and it has lasted 7 years, and recently upgraded to that model, and sor far the products has not failed and perform flawlessly

They say with the 516f they can do 600mb/sec. Yet I think this is in unprotected RAID 0. If you do RAID 5, RAID 50, you get 300mb/sec. Seems a bit of false advertising.

There is not much overhead by being in a RAID0 and the PPC chip in this unit has more power to spare. So being in a RAID6 will use some of the power of that chip, and the chip will still be underused...... I suspect that the 516f with RAID6 will do above 500mb/sec.

Probably, but in unprotected mode--who wants to work in that.
