I've been wondering this myself.
DVCPRO-HD is another tape format.
It would be REALLY nice if sony would make 1 deck that
could do:
HDCAM-SR Playback/Record multi frame rates
HDCAM Playback/Record multi frame rates
DigiBeta Playback/Record multi frame rates
BetaSP Playback/Record
They'd no doubt charge an arm and a leg for this if
it's possible and bundle all these options as add-ons
above the price.
But dang, wouldn't that be nice?
I'm beginning to wonder if studios will embrace HDCAM-SR
and D5 will go the way of the D2. SR is supposed to be
higher quality, so it does make sense imo.

I work for a large station in Canada and we just picked up a few HDCAM-SR decks. Not even going near D-5.
I think the probability is that stations will primarily stick with Sony, as they always do. As far as Studios...who know, that all depends on the person controlling the money.

Yes, HDCAM SR is barely on my RADAR, but with Sony referring to HDCAM as "legacy" in their literature, I imagine that I should keep an eye on that too.
