Video noise created by multiple effects
by Larry Christie on May 24, 2008 at 3:54:46 am

I sometimes get video noise lines if I stack up too many effects. For instance I put a mask around a talking head, so another clip below it showed in background. But it created annoying video noise lines that were clearly associated with just that portion of video over which the effect was applied.

I tried fuzing out just the clip with the mask on it, then putting the fuzed clip on top of the background video. But couldn't figure out how to save the masked clip with an alpha channel so the background clip would show through.

Any help is appreciated. Larry

What version of Liquid are you on? You should be on 7.2.

I don't remember this being a problem in Ver. 6. It was in some versions of 7 and fixed in 7.2. You might try different video card drivers (both newer and older) to see if that helps. Be sure to delete your render files each time you try a different one. The other option is to upgrade to 7.2 which I recommend. There are lots of improvements over 6.

if your render settings are at dv25, you'll start to see stacking in no time. You can change your settings to 1:1 or just wait and render the top layer when done.
