Audio Sync Problems with liquid 6.1
by Wes Chazy on Oct 15, 2005 at 8:41:20 am

I have been using liquid pro for a year and have experienced significant audio sync issues. I use the breakout box via firewire with a jvc br dv 6000 deck.

Audio seems to float on playback, sometimes I can disband the audio and adjust so it is correct, other times when doing so the sync floats, never the same twice.

I am a professional editor experienced on several systems, I've edited broadcast commercials and coprorate video since 1981 so, although I am getting old, I don't think I'm a crackpot yet, pinnacle support has been less than zero...

Sometimes it's in sync, sometimes not. Can you force it to not be in sync with any action?

Wes,

I would help significantly if you would fill out your profile, especially the system section.

Is your LE system only running LE and nothing else, or is it loaded, and an old XP install?

Background tasks turned off? High speed drives, less than 80% full, defragged????

Best,

Hi, I've posted my system specs:

LE 6.1 Build 4190 VTX
hp workstation xw6000
Intel Xeon CPU 2.80 GHz, 2.79Ghz,
1.00 GB RAM, C drive: 74.5 GB Maxtor 6Y080L0,
Media Drive R: 136 GB SEAGATE ST3146807LW SCSI
Windows XP Version 2002 Service, Pack 2
Intel(R) 82801DB Ultra ATA Storage Controller -24CB

I haven't defragged drives in a while, My Media Drive is almost 90% full.

I sometimes run outlook in the background, sometimes audition, or sound forge.

Thank you for any help, I appreciate it. As an example of what is happening, I just previewed 3 fused finished 30 sec. commercials and they played fine, I went to record them onto a beta sp machine and the audio sync wandered on the second ad

I'm gonna stick my nose in here.

Media drive 90% full could be the problem. Can you clear some space? and defrag? Some say never defrag media drive, but I've done it with no problems. Definitely want to get to 80% full or less if you can.(imho)

HTH

If I disband the audio and move it, sure, in fact I have to do that four frames to get it into sync to start with.

Wes,

I'm thinking the defrag status and the 90% full are the main culprits.

Try fusing to a less full drive, or maybe it's time to get yourself a 300GB SATA. I just got one at FRY's here on the west coast, USA for $119 after rebate. Can't beleive it, and it runs great!
