I'll do you one better. Cheap computer, DVI to HDMI cable, monoprice $50 HDMI over cat5e ( http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=101&cp_id=10105&cs_id=10... ) and an inexpensive 23-24 inch monitor (or perhaps a cheap TV as a monitor) to display the image.

Well, a machines quietness is normally inversely proportional to the amount of moving parts it has. That and good thermal dynamic engineering helps too.

Good news is that the Ultrascope machines don't really require alot of power. So smallish power supply, i7/i5 type processor and a solid state drive with no optical drive, you can get the sound level down pretty low. Throw a water cooler on it (WAY WAY WAY overkill) and you can make it almost inaudible.

Throw money at it and you can do a lot.

But I completely agree. Least expensive way to make to make it silent is to put it in a room with no ears.
