Hi Everyone,

I have been looking through the threads here and am hoping that someone may be able to assist with a setup question I have.

I currently have a 2 x 5405 Xeon with 16GB RAM and 6 SATA drives. 4 able to be set to any RAID level as 2 are in a RAID 1 mirror. I am able to basically install any MS OS that would be most suited to stable operation.

I am looking to capture a SD stream to AVI for post production integration with captures from roving cameras. But I am also looking at taking this primary input and generating a live stream.

Suggestions?
2 x cards to perform separate functions? If so, which version?
Other configs?

Thanks in advance,

Tim

Hi.

I had pc for SD work and it used XP for that.

Just regular 3Ware hw raid. Even 2 drives striped was good to go.
AMD X2 and generally thats it.
Nvidia Quadro 1700 or something like that also.

SD work does not take too much with todays computers.

If you go with BM tested motherboard and graphics you should be set.

Further to that, if you are to go the 2 card route, you'll need to ensure that the application you use supports it. Our drivers support multiple cards on one single motherboard but most off the shelf applications may not.

Hi again,

I currently have Pinancle (Avid) Liquid 7.2 running on windows xp. However I have been looking at other software as I am running into a few issues (apart from the lack of any updates to any form of 64bit OS!).

What NLE would then be best when operating with 2 cards?

Regards,

Tim
