It's a line level input so you will need some kind of preamplifier, like a small mixer.

I do not know if your computer sees your capture card directly.
Probably not.

What i have done is start Log and capture in Premiere or finalcut.
Disable video input in your settings (you still need reference video in and / or black video in). Press capture now and record your audio.

And yes you need pre amp probably to your mic.

Generally it is possible but not so straight forward.

I have heard that you will need some kind of video input as well as the audio even if you are not capturing video.

I Have tried this, it works, but only when capturing in Premiere, it's not something you can really control or has any real usability, and the inputs are really there for balanced inputs from i.e beta decks.

You have to use a separate solution for this, like for instance a firewire external audio card.

Oh! And you do need a phantom powered preamp for the mike first.

Hi.

All is true as i sayed between the lines you need phantom power which mixer should give and you need sync (sync is more optional i think) and black (eny video) in and you can do it with premiere or finalcut only. But still it is doable if you do not want to have separate audio card.
