Capture to DV codec through SDI input?
by David Zimmerly on Jun 20, 2007 at 8:06:40 pm

Hello all,

This is my first time on this forum. We are wondering if we can capture to the DV codec through the SDI input of the DeckLink HD Pro PCI-X card. We want to use DV as an offline resolution for HDCAM downconverts through SDI. We do NOT want to have to go in to the Mac through FireWire. The documentation is not really clear about this point, so I appeal to this group to help us out.

Thanks!

David

Sure... you will use the Black Magic DV easy setup and you can control the deck through RS-422. We do this all the time... even with DV material.

Thanks, Steve. I was pretty sure you could do this (as we do with all of our Avid systems) but it just wasn't explicit in the BlackMagic documentation.
