On camera light for use with DVX100b
by Andrew Stone on May 19, 2009 at 3:33:17 am

Hello all I am looking for a good on camera light with battery pack and dimmer for the DVX100b. I looked around on B and H and they all seemed a bit pricey. I also saw some cheaper ones around 50 dollars though. So I figured I would go to the experts for some advice. I also saw an a couple LED lights, and didn't know the opinion on those...

Also I am going to be using it for wedding receptions.

Thanks,

Andrew

LED lights are great. Anything under $100 is going to be useful for extreme close-ups only.

Bebob offers the first on-board LED system to feature variable focus range. The unique arrangement of LEDs allows for stepless variable focus at an angle of 40º (Spot) to 60º (Flood). Output is fully dimmable.

The Bebob Lux LED comes with an inline power supply adapter that enables the LED light to run directly off the camera's battery—eliminating the need for an external power source.

After considerable testing by NBC Universal, they opted to purchase a considerable amount of Bebob LED lights for their news stations nationwide. These are great lights.

If you're looking solely at cost, then, you will miss-out on the key points of a good LED light, such as the Bebob Lux LED:

- High-output LEDs — 30W
- Variable focus at an angle of 40º (Spot) to 60º (Flood)
- Dimmable light control
- Cooling system keeps the light cool to the touch
- Connects to any 6.5V to 28V power supply
- Integrated power cable with standard D-tap connector
- Barndoors with diffuser
- Lightweight
