Capture settings in FCP for Letterboxed Footage

Hi,
I captured some footage using FCP that was shot with the Panasonic DVX100B on letterbox mode. When capturing, I didn't check the 'anamorphic' box because I thought letterboxed footage should be captured as if it's 4:3
When I looked at the Quicktimes that were made, however, the image looks further stretched horizontally than it should.

Yes you want to check the anamorphic checkbox. All that does is tell FCP to stretch into a 16:9 shape. You can also just change it in your browser bin in FCP, go to the anamorphic setting and check it on. DV NTSC footage is always 720x480 whether 16:9 or 4:3, it's just the shape of the pixels.
