Just bought a new DVX 100B ..Little overwhelmed with figuring it out, but very excited to see what it can do.
Cutting a project on Final Cut Pro 5.14.
It contains a lot of historical footage and now I have to shoot some interviews as well. I am going to shoot in 24p normal.
Not sure about what my settings should be in setting up a new project file.
I've read in various forums people saying both DV NTSC 23.98 or DV NTSC 29.98 setting. Not sure which is better or proper.
I know it;s probably been asked a thousand times before, but not quite sure if these setting make any difference to my final output, which is being screened on DVD. I'm not doing any broadcast stuff, it';s always output to DVD.

May I suggest you get Barry Green's DVX100 book and my DVD if you haven't already. That's a great primer to many of your questions and a small extra premium on top of your camera.
To answer your actual question- because you are shooting 24p and not 24pA and mixing with presumably NTSC 60i historical footage you want to cut at 29.97 NTSC DV- basically standard DV settings. That allows you to mix 24p with pulldown intact along with 60i material while retaining the 'film look' of the DVX100.
