Zoom control doesn't work smoothly or hesitates

I'm about 6 months into using my dvx100B and I'm finding that the "rocker arm" trigger for the zoom is starting to not work without a manual nudge on the zoom ring on the lens. What's that about? It had worked smoothly up until now, but now hesitates or doesn't move at all. I tried switching the manual switch on the front on and off, but it doesn't seem to help.
Any ideas? Defect? Defective camera operator?

Well it's only six month so assuming you bought the camera new from an authorized dealer it should be no problem to get warranty service on it. Sounds like something fixable.
