DVX live recording to Hard Drive
by Joel Knoop on Jul 24, 2008 at 8:51:48 pm

Hello.

I am scheduled to do a 2 camera shoot next week at a live corporate presentation event. I want to run my dvx100 into my CalDigit via my powerbook and firewire. I have been searching for a relatively low cost solution for this. I know FCP can do it... I am a little concerned with that because capture times may be up to 4 hours. I am testing Quictimes "movie" capture ... does anyone know how long that can record with out interruption? Is there any time required after recording is over to process the codec?
Does anyone know of another program besides Capture Magic HD... that is $500 or less?

I was looking at Movie Recorder...Seems like a real high end program... but is over a grand....

Thoughts?

Firestore would make a lot more sense or just switch tapes.
