Hot Connection
by Nitin Sawant on Jul 3, 2008 at 4:24:51 pm

I am using the DVX 100B for a few years but suddenly I have a very hot connection on my XLR input. I have to keep the input to 2 or 3 to record and then when the sound drops the camera does not pick up anything.

No problem when I use the on camera mic.

Any suggestions. Do any of the settings need checking.

Thank You

Nitin

Probably a loose connection internally. I'd get it in for a service repair. Probably not too expensive and that camera's age it's not a bad time to go for a full cleaning/checkout while your at it.

[Nitin Sawant] " I have a very hot connection"

Um, do you meant HOT temperature or HOT level?

If you mean LEVEL, check the front of the camera to make sure that it is switched to MIC and not LINE.

I am using an XLR input so should I not be using line?

Thanks

Actually, the type of connector does not determine the level of the feed. If your XLR is connected to a microphone, you'll have MIC level. If it's coming from something else, it's more likely to be LINE level.
