Letterbox Rendering problem

I recently shot a short film on a Panasonic AG-DVX100, I just finished the editing and when I render the project (in Sony Vegas), I see there's a problem. Instead of having the Cinema standard black bars at the top and bottom. I have this:

I fear what I may have done is shot the film with the letterbox mode on, as well as having the 16:9 anamorphic lens on, I'm guessing this is what would lead to the problems in the pictures.
Is there anyway at all, I can correct this, because one thing I cannot do AT ALL is shoot the film again.
Any help whatsoever would be great.
