25i PAL
by Goran Myrendal on Jun 25, 2008 at 8:03:40 pm

Hi,

I just bought a Panasonic HDX900.

If I want to connect a non-linear editor to the DVCPRO output connector and edit the footage in 25i PAL, what format should I record the footage in?

The reson why 25i PAL is that I sometimes work with news.

Thanks

Goran,

News is more likely shot at 50i frame rate. 25fps is a progressive rate that duplicates identical frames to replicate a "film look". News is usually shot to look more "live" which 50i does by creating a new field every half frame.

Thanks for your quick reply!

I have a avid program that I have used to edit DVCAM earlier. When I select format I have selected 25i PAL.

I thought that 25 in 25i PAL stands for 25 megabit per second? What do you think about that?
