Panasonic NEW AJ-HD1800 VTR

Anyone knows why is Panasonic still bother to release a new deck, AJ-HD1800 DVCPRO HD VTR? I thought Panasonic is pushing P2 solid state format and slowly cutting down on tape format?

The only thing I can think of is that the NEW Varicam might be still using DVCPRO HD tapes instead of P2.

Any news on the NEW Varicam?

If for no other reason, their probably adding a FW connection to the 1700 deck. It's a good idea!
