I sure hope someone can help me with this in time:
Cloning from Varicam to HD1400.
I am using Menu 032 in the 1400. Setting it to SLTC.
The idea being that this will pull the framerate and timecode off the Varicam and place it on the new tape.
Problem: There is NO EVIDENCE that the timecode is coming from the Varicam to the HD1400 using this method.
I know I can use external TC out of the camera IF I turn off SLTC on the 1400 but then risk losing the frame flag information embedded in the userbits.
Question: HOW IN GOD'S Name to I get the deck to show Varicam's tape timecode? Is it a setting in camera, in the deck, or both.

I don't know of anyway to clone a tape and maintain the flags. That's not what you wanted to hear. Hopefully someone else knows.

that is not how to clone a tape.
you cannot clone tapes using HDSI from the camera and turning on the SLTC
you can clone tapes in FW mode deck to deck but not camera to deck
