So far our new HDX is as advertised - quite a capable piece of gear. Having touble setting up a feature that I really want, though: on the SDX you can set the video out tap to display the viewfinder signal. Extremely helpful, particularly with crane work, to see the zebras on the monitor so you can ride the iris under changing light. The HDX doesn't have this video out (or monitor out) feature. Has anyone found a workaraound?

Yeah,
It's called hire a qualified DIT or video controller along with the necessary gear (ie paintbox and HDSDI waveform monitor) and you are all set to do it the proper way.
Even if you cannot afford to hire the talent then at least rent a portable HDSDI waveform monitor and mount that to your jib or crane for exposure decisions.

Tom -
It's only been a few weeks, but so far I like it a lot. It is in a sweet little pocket between the 7.6, which wasn't wide enough for me, and the 4.5, which didn't go out far enough. A bit heavier than I'm used to (compared to my 7.6X18 SD lens)but not bad. Has a good ergonomic feel and is really sharp. After shooting with the 7.6 for a few years, the extra coverage at the wide end is really nice. Finding a 107mm protective filter for the front element was an adventure in back order. Not a common size, it would seem. All things considered, I'd go for this one again.
