Compressing for Cisco UCCX

Anyone out there producing for this system?
After a long and expensive recording session for very customized, detailed On-Hold messages, our client wants files created for Cisco UCCX VoIP application, The specs we were given are 8K, 8bit, CCITT uLaw, Mono. The beautiful hi res audio the client heard during the session is now being squashed to oblivion and they can't grasp why it sounds so bad. The hardware installer insists that these are the specs they require. I have read what I can find online about the system and I can't find anything dealing with bandwidth. We have tried files of higher quality but the system refuses to play them. I have seen much mention of the "scripting" for this system. I wonder if there is a line of code that looks for a certain bit rate and sample size in the file header? A quick change here might allow higher quality files to play. ???
Any insight much appreciated,
Mark
