Any tech info on this high quality video format?
by famous on Jul 14, 2007 at 11:49:19 am

I saw a discussion on a travel website about a new tourism video for Vancouver, Canada. The person from the tourism office mentioned some new technology that allows for near DVD quality. The video played really well for me at a full screen size. There isn't any info about the technical specifics of the video format on either site that would allow for comparison to other online video formats. Does anyone have any technical info about this short film?

Here's the Vancouver tourism site ("Vancouver Destination Film" is in
the lower left corner of the page):
http://www.tourismvancouver.com/visitors/

Thanks!
Tim

Looks promising for real streaming. It is 3rd party all the way. You send them broadcast quality video and they will encode and stream it for you.
Having to install a java applet on the targets machine might put off some. No player controls on the sample.
