Can anyone recommend a good audio recording device

I want a good audio recording device that is not too expensive to record audio and copy it in an editable format to Audacity or Adobe Audition. Any recommendations?
Or, does anyone have a camera that can record video as well as audio in high quality and convert either for editing purposes? Again, something vaguely affordable.
Thanks.

Any cheap video camera will have bad audio capabilities. I'd scratch that idea if you want something that records good audio with good functionality.
Instead, I'd look at something like the Zoom H4 as it's dedicated to just portable audio capture and does a great job at it.

I second the Zoom H4 - the sound is incredible.
That one little device gets better sound than any home studio I have recorded in.

Hey.
"Again, something vaguely affordable."
Can you give me a rough idea of your definition of affordable? I've suggested options to people and they've practically coughed up a lung.
$100? $1,000?

Zoom H-2, Tascam DR-07, Yamaha Pocketrak 2G. All are $200 or less in USA.
