This was a known issue with XDCAM Transfer versions prior to version 2.5.1 and OSX 10.5 ( Leopard ) ie the disc would not mount visibly on the desktop. (Sony's record of getting their Mac based XDCAM software ready for new versions of the Mac OS in

You can get a QuickTime movie from SxS card with XDCAM Transfer 2.1 even when you don't have the Apple codecs installed (which is probably why XDT says 'No Image Available'). Go to XDCAM Transfer > Preferences > General tab and select 'Import clips
