The Canon 17-85 is not an f2.8 it's f4-f5.6. This is a problem for video because your exposure will change throughout the zoom range when wide open.

I just purchased a SOLA light for onboard my JVC HM700 with the $100 rebate right now. However if you purchase their three light Sola ENG kit no rebate - which seems not quite right to me.

Have you already shot the footage? If not, I would suggest you shoot the replacement head shot as a static shot on green screen, key it out and then pre-comp it and apply a soft edge mask to the neck area to blend it into the original actor's neck. T | | | | |

My reply was a bit confusing. I should have stated that the effective imaging area of the chip equates to a 1280x720 frame in terms of optics. In other words, the depth-of-field is back to being equal to a 1/3" camera. That might not be an issue with | | | | |

And thats the problem getting glass to give you a good range with that tiny sensor.....
the only caveat from what is other wise a fantastic leap forward.

That's two completely different things, one has nothing to do with the other.
An add-on wide-angle adapter will allow your existing lens to shoot wider, but will have no affect on making your DoF any shallower.
