Have you played with (before you bring the PNG into your timeline) with right clicking on the file, going into properties, and specifying that it has alpha, and trying ether Straight (Unmatted) or Premultiplied? Then dragging it into the timeline?

I don't quite understand, but it seems to me that you want to load media into Vegas via the Explorer tab? Hold down the left mouse button and drag the media to the media tab, and when that window opens drop the media in the window.

It sounds like Vegas 8 doesn't like something that FCP did when it rendered the file since it can read Blackmagic files that it creates itself. I assume these are AVI files and there is an option in Vegas that is checked by default to "Create an Open

My only suggestion is to try and use another program to re-render that one MTS file. You might want to contact Sony and send them the file so that they can see why Vegas can't play it since is does play the other files and other programs can see the
