You might want to check out Adobe Speedgrade, it comes with the CS6 Production Suite and would save you having to go into FCP7 at all. Here's a quick video about roundtripping from Premiere.

You might look at Adobe's SpeedGrade as well. I've been playing with it, and it's kinda cool. I'm not a colorist, so your mileage may vary. But Adobe is definitely pushing it as a professional grading application. And it comes included with a "cloud"

It sounds like you will be able to color correct/grade in Premiere for basic needs. I think you mentioned using Warp Stabilizer earlier in AE? If you are upgrading to CS6, Premiere Pro now has Warp Stabilizier & somewhat easier color correction.

Ryan Patch is right that there is no added bit-depth, color information, or resolution added to a file that you transcode. The file can ever only be as good as what you capture it on originally. Period. However, the reason transcoding is necessary

Same issue. I actually went into each media clip, cleared the in and out points, and then recut the same in and outs and replaced the clips on the timeline. Problem solved, but it freaks me out that there was no concrete reason behind what happened.

Looks like it's a bug with Speedgrade. -The EDL is exported at 24fps -The footage timecode is 24fps -Speedgrade's project and footage settings are both set to 24fps So why is Speedgrade losing a frame? Time for a bug report.

As a work around, provided you have After Effects CS6, you can import the PPro sequence into AE. You can also Import a PPro Sequence Via Dynamic link. However beware of Dynamic Linking a PPro Sequence with embedded AE Dynamic Links :) T
