I don't have any T powered mikes. My question is about damage to condensers and dynamics if T power is turned on using the Sound Devices 302. It's a simple switch on the 302 and kids love to play with switches. | | | | |

I think if you want variable gain then you should attach a small mixer like a Sound devices mix pre. I think the camera input should remain constant and then you can adjust how much more you want at the mixer level.

The EPIC brain only accepts MIC level input. It DOES NOT accept line level in. Line level can be achieved with the PRO module.
You can attenuate the signal coming out of the mixer and convert it to MIC level if need be.

Remember that the KiPro records ProRes (and now DNx). The original poster points out that the BMD device records DNx. As these two codecs are very similar, these devices have parity there.

I really like the MixPre-D alot, I bought it in the hope I could use it for both field use and desktop, it replaced a Duet2 which I wasn't overly impressed with (preferred duet1) but that'ls another .. boring story.

I am just about to post a project shot on the F3 using sLog. The SDI output of the camera including timecode was fed to a PIX240 external recorder which can record ProRes or DNxHD. Both of those codecs can be edited in FCP without L&T.

Pro Tools is not a Mac only application. You don't need two meters. The correct meter shows both at the same time. I'm guessing vegas and sound forge both do something similar. Check preferences for metering adjustment.
