We have never installed any drivers. It's just the camera plugged into the Mac through the USB port. Then using "log and transfer"

I didn't realize it was so difficult in Avid. In FCP you can cut "online" 1920X1080 Avc-Intra @ 100MB/s very easily even with a firewire 800 drive... you don't need any crazy expensive hardware to handle it or decode it.

Everything that Shane says. MXF4mac has just released P2 Flow as well which is a hnady application for handling native MXF files in FCP with complete metadata. We shoot a lot of AVC-I and the files go in to a ProRes HQ sequence (FCP default).
