Hi Graham You are right. The "AVID MPEG-IMX" is not included in any of the AVIDs free codecs packages, but you may try "Apples IMX". I guess you only need QTPro to open that in AVID. rafael

Just coming back to the thread to say thanks, that fixed it. Plus I flipped the resize and deinterlace filter to the quickest settings (as I'm not resizing or deinterlacing) and the processing speed went down to something more reasonable.

Wow. Well, you are dealing with a proprietary FCP codec...just like capturing HDV and DVCPRO HD via FCP make those QT files only viewable on systems with FCP installed. And unlike Avid, not all of FCPs codecs are available for download from Apple.
