Sarah, I have the same laptop and I'm not seeing this issue. What version of Mavericks are you on? OS X 10.9.4 has some fixes that are important for Premiere, so I'd recommend updating to that if you're not already on 10.9.4. Ben

Seems this issue goes back to 2013 and early Mavericks installs and continues into July of 2014! We just installed Mavericks on another MacPro and we now both have the same issue, whether we are looking at each other or at a Mountain Lion MacPro.

Just updated the Pro Apps codec today along with FCPX 10.1.2 and now the OS does not see my second monitor. Boot up in my old lion disk and the monitor works fine. Did a repair permissions to the Mavericks drive and rebooted but no second monitor.

Much appreciated, Mark Suszko! I think that it must be the boot drive from what you mention because I had only 10gb free and it always worked well with Mavericks until a few weeks ago. I'll keep in mind your advice as well on not upgrading the OS.
