No doubt LTO is the best option for "true" archiving. I'd look for a device that supports LTFS. Not only do you gain more open support as it is not proprietary, you can mount a tape and see your files just like a big 'ol flash drive. Archive and rest

All LTO drive models can be cleaned with an LTO Universal Cleaning Tape. Do not attempt to use swabs or other manual cleaning methods. We use Fuji, but Sony, Maxell and TDK are all LTO approved manufacturers - LTO tapes with other branding are made

LTO tapes are considered the industry standard. However, these are very expensive. For a small business, I would just recommend sticking to hard drives. However, use bare drives that you mount in docks instead of buying new externals every time.
