FYI, this is not a still camera. It's an HD video camera; the new Kodak Zi8. The native format is h.264 .MOV 720p 60fps.

Try transcoding it to ProRes instead of working natively in h.264. H.264 is a delivery format not really supported all that well in FCP. Import it all into Compressor, then export it as ProRes using the same frame size and frame rate.

I will suggest to convert the H264 to Prores keeping all the settings of the original clips: Size and time-base (I guess 30fps). Then Conform the 30fps clips to 29'98 in CinemaTools.
