There's no "special" monitor. Most monitors now have a DSLR mode so you can see the image as accurately as possible. If you're in the market I'd have a look at:

I bought the 600 from them and have had no issue in mounting it. The only issue is fitting the external ikan battery source and the matte box. It can be done, but a tight fit with the small rail system.

Peter, neither Ikan nor Wooden Camera make any matteboxes. Both of those cameras make support gear and rigs but no mattebox.

All I get on my Ikan is a blue screen. I do have picture on the 5D, and I'm assuming that screen should turn off, correct? Can't seem to find info on this anywhere else. Is there a setting I need to switch?

The Ikan guys were great at NAB. I was able to play with all their monitors and get a sense of what worked... You really need to get in a store and check these out and compare!

I use the Marshall V-LCD70XP-3GSDI monitor. It is very sharp, with focus assist and false color and peaking filter.
I've used the iKan and Manhattan LCD and the Marshall is the best for the money. Flanders Scientific is my second recommendation. | | | | |
