I upgraded from Vegas 9 so I cannot comment for 10 and 11, but it is a night and day difference for me. It hasn't crashed yet, I love the masking shapes, the integrated pan/crop + event FX, and the quick upload to Youtube.

Nothing wrong at all about AVCHD... it's just H.264 in another 'color' so to speak. The FS100 has almost everything you ask for, even an HDMI out for uncompressed broadcast quality footage when the budget allows for it.

Any work you will be doing in post? IE. Green screen or other manipulated animations (After Effects in Adobe, or other?) then the codec capture, becomes a consideration.

This is what I don't get - with all of the hype that Smoke is getting, shouldn't Avid be touting DS, saying, "Yeah, we've had editing & node based compositing in one app for years. Welcome to the party - and our product is already tested & stable!"

Then we can agree that Apple does not favor speed.
Although, system reinstalls/sharing, and diving in to Terminal are all part of it.
It is much easier on Mac to fix these things (boot a MacPro from a mini just for example).
