I just posted about my poor XL-H1 camera having a messed up tape drive. Very sad, but I'd been intending to upgrade to a solid state or a hard drive recorder. Does anyone have experience in this area? The two I know of are the Firestore hard drive

You think a P2 Card is expensive? I started in this field with a used Arri-16s. Try buying 400' of 16 mm color film, THEN dump more money to process it, AND STILL NOT KNOW IF YOU GOT THE SHOT! What you spent on your camera was a good price. But

You can still the use the HPG20. If the client wants the footage immediately, have them rent P2 cards and they can take them with them. Another product is from a competitor, the AJA KiPro. Same applies, client can rent and take the hard drive with

I can't exactly answer your question but I will let you know there is a problem with at least one Firestore drive the DR-100. It's HDV files are no longer compatible with any QT editing/playback software. You'd need to convert the HDV or rewrap the

You could easily get into a Canon 60D for that budget. Starting with a used P2 camera expecting dirt cheap media is not doing your research.

Oh yeah...just like that! I don't have tons of money man!! I shot my wad on this "paper weight" of a camera!! I also only paid $1,200.00 for it. I don't have enough to buy an SD capable camera!! You guys are amazing! I wish I could get the GD work

Hehe- you should have seen the prices when P2 first came out. That said, AVCHD/SDHC card cameras like the AF100 and AC160 are in my opinion way more bang for buck than P2 unless you really need that extra edge of quality from DVCPROHD.

They did. It used to be $1600 for a 4GB card. Now it is $650 for a 64GB card. And when the 32GB cards first came out, they were $1600...now they are 1/4th that.
