Make anything of the MDC having quicker write speeds for DVCProHD than any of the clients. The port settings are the same except I am using copper cables.

unfortunately you can't change it once it is built. It depends on what speeds you need. If your disk whack tests at that setting are good, you'll be fine, but if you have time to optimize it and rebuild, nothing better than to do this before the RAID

When you first build the volume, under "advanced settings," you can set the file stripe which is default at 16kb, and that is fine. On the next screen you drag and drop your LUNs into their respective pools. Metadata to the metadata pool and data lun

I have found that 16kb is fine for the filesystem, but when you get to the data pools you will want to adjust that to 32 blocks or 64. (double click to change their # of blocks) in traditional Apple world people set this to 64 and thus create the 1MB

I think Jay is right, shoot 59.94, then the deck should have an easier time interlacing it, if it will accept the progressive signal. I dont' have a DVCPROHD deck to test it on, so this is only conjecture.

Just to make your brain hurt, you could also shoot DVCProHD which is 1280x1920. On the end, I would just keep life simple and edit in a 1920x1280 ProRes 422 sequence. And since you're shooting HDV I'm pretty sure it's interlaced as well. So 1080i. T

I think the point that Craig is making regarding shorter clips vs capturing entire tapes is one that is overlooked and not talked about enough. It makes it a huge pain in the ass having to figure out how to log and store both shorter clips from DSLR
