If they are using FC, you shouldn't send them any AVI. They will need to transcode it for editing. If they are in FC 5, you can not send them Proress. PhotoJPEG 75%, DVCPro50 or DV are your options. cheers, rafael www.nagavideo.com

Don, what kind of AVI is it (DivX, Xvid)? 40 min. of DV-AVI should be a bit over 8 gigs. I always do my encodes (i.e. renders) from Vegas as MPEG-2 and AC-3 and give those to DVDA. If it's an AVI file, DVDA shouldn't care how long it is as it will

I believe you need an external deck capable of 4CH audio to ingest your footage. Such as the SONY M35. I too have the same issue - DVCAM/DV 4CH works fine copying from the CF card, HDV does not. Cheers for now, Tom Pauncz (30WEST MEDiA GROUP)

Don't use H.264. It is not an editing codec, it is a delivery codec. it is not meant to be used the way you are trying to. You need to convert this to DV, or if it is HD sized, then to ProRes. Then do all of your editing and such. Shane

You shouldn't convert to mpeg 2 and then convert to an FCP edit codec. Do it in one step in MPEG Streamclip. Open the VOB and export ProRes, DV, DVCPro50, whatever. How is your external drive formatted? If it's FAT32 you have a 4GB file size limit. I
