One consideration for your work flow is that MAX2AE also allows you to from AE back to MAX. Something not possible with C4D.

While bringing your image sequence, if you want to bring in MAX's camera or have layers in MAX align in AE, check out MAX2AE from our site - www.boomerlabs.com

How about MAX? - Certainly worth considering.
P.S. We just released a new plugin that lets you take helpers/cameras in MAX and import them in AE as well - so there is tighter integration.
