We have a "test" 27" iMac that's running a Blackmagic UltraStudio Express with Premiere Pro CS6. It works just fine for playback, but when you start fast-forwarding or rewinding your footage it can't keep up. Where your playhead is in the clip can

Hi Shane. Is that still the case here in March? That Io XT and PP 6 are problematic? I'm working on non-Retina 2012 MBPro and still determining my best bet. The dual Thunderbolt makes this the most likely choice, but I might go to PP later in the

Mick, Blackmagic's "easy setups" that install with their drivers have the capture presets as ProRes 422HQ by default. Simply go to the capture presets in your FCP A/V settings, duplicate the one you are using and give this new one a different n

Hello Mick You probably need to ask on the BMD forum. I believe the BMD Hyperdeck can only record ProRes HQ, whereas the AJA KiPro range can record Proxy, LT, ProRes, & ProRes HQ. But I am not sure about limitations on the UltraStudio Expres

For use in what editing application? I have the IoXT and it's solid in Avid MC 6 and FCP 7. Capturing and outputting in Adobe CS6 is still problematic, and people use FCP 7 to do that part when they use CS6. I can't comment about the BMD card.

I'll second that. It's sort of the standard. I think I hear my blackmagic ultrastudio express fan more than the pegasus. I guess mine is the R4. 4 drives, 8th, formatted raid 5 so you get speed and backup, and end up with 6Tb of space.

After years of screwing around with mini-sas enclosures, firmware updates, lame http interfaces, pci card jiggering, etc., it's a breath of fresh air. I think even with the 6 disk one we have, the speed isn't limited by the cable but by the drives.
