I have a JVC GY-HD200, I am using a Datavideo DN-60, runs around $580.
It records to a Compact Flash card, using the firewire interface.
I can double master to both the DN-60 and tape,
so far haven't needed the tape, the files work fine | | | | |

Also make sure your mediafiles are living in the exact correct folder on the root of the media drive. So that would be X:/Avid MediaFiles/MXF/n (where 'X' is any drive letter and 'n' is any number). A simple typo or subfoldering will hide the media f | | | | |

Is this captured/imported media or AMA?
As long as the folder structure (Avid MediaFiles/MXF/1) is correct and there are Media Database files normally Avid does not care about drive letters. | | | | |

The only way to open those files is via software like Calibrated or MXF4Mac.
The client really should have given you QT files. You can say "hey, we don't have Avid here, so can you provide us exported QT files of that footage?" Or, you can dow | | | | |

There are many parts of editing that translate to real world "speed" for editors, and they are all different.
