You can just use the default DVDit settings and click burn DVD, assuming you did not edit anything. If you have any precomputes, you stil have to mix it all down as Avid still shows bad interlacing in reference files.

My first thought is that you really don't need to send the file to AfterEffects...you need to look at the help menu or Avid DVD manual and follow the steps involving metatracks and exporting the video directly into sorenson squeezeAvid Editor

Nope. Every Media Composer purchase comes with the same third party programs, but in this case the DVD program is PC only.

I just installed a new drive to fully rule out hardware issue, but it did the same thing except this time it offered an error statement:
File not a valid MPEG - 20402.
