I'm editing a DV pal timeline in FCP. I exported some footage as an Mov without any compression. I imported this Mov into After effects. I used MB Looks on the footage for color grading. I then re-exported this as an Mov using DV Pal compression.

Well I downloaded a preset off here for the light saber effect. I put it in the folder, "presets" using finder(mac) not the application, then when i open after effects, the preset i added is not there.

Check the anchorpoint and position properties.
The screenshots perhaps have an uneven amount of pixels, so the anchorpoint falls inbetween 2 pixels.

Just open the Gif in Photoshop, convert to RGB 8bpc and save as a different fileformat that supports alpha channels like PSD or tiff.
GIF is an 8bit format, so it has no real alpha channel, just one color reserved as transparant.

I worked it out.
Strangely, whilst right clicking the image in the workspace and going to > Quality > Draft, it then becomes 100% crisp.
I suppose this happens because it's anti-aliasing it, as if it was some vector sphere.
