Hi All,
I'm cutting a public affairs series eventually for PBS, produced by a non-profit. So pretty clearly non-commercial. I'm using Creative Commons non-commercial, attribution stills and attributing them, no problem there. I'm wondering about stills that are listed with the non-commercial, attribution, share-alike license. Here's the relevant part of the
license:
If you alter, transform, or build upon this work, you may distribute the resulting work only under the same or similar license to this one.
I'm unclear as to whether or not the show I'm cutting is an alteration, transformation, or building upon the work. I think you could argue both ways, but I suspect it is, meaning I (or rather, the producer) would have to license the entire show in the same manner, which is something I don't think they'd do. Does anyone have any experience using stills (or other media) with this kind of license for video production? How do you interpret that line?
Thanks,
- David
