Bringing PD100 into the USA?

I am planning to go to the USA to see Disneyland, attend a trade show and Las Vegas. The problem is I've been told that if I try to bring my old PD100 into the States I'll be turned around ASAP and sent home as "an agent of the foreign media".
Has anybody out there had any experience in taking a "prosumer" camera into the States.
The ironic thing is that I've taking it all over the world including to China and I have never had any trouble.
Any advice?
