You have a lot of errors underlying your comments there. It's pretty tough to wade through them all. You need to be aware that DV tapes can record two separate signals: DV or HDV. This has nothing to do with manufacturer, either. Both of these formats are regulated by SMPTE.

The answer is: there is no manufacturer to avoid. They all comply with SMPTE. But you need to know what format is being used.
